To commemorate ten years since Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast, Steps Coalition and Mississippi Center for Justice organized "Resiliency and Recovery," a community potluck dinner and gathering.  GCCDS was asked to design and display an exhibit consisting of stories gathered by Steps and MCJ as told by community members of their struggles and successes since the storm.  The exhibit acknowledged that while we have come far in the last ten years, recovery has been uneven among different demographics of the population and there is still much work to do.
